Manu Biosphere Reserve 14 days/13 nights

Trip description

The Manu National Park is one of the largest Peruvian protected areas, and its 18,811km² area is part of the Manu Biosphere Reserve, located in the provinces of Cusco and Madre de Dios. The park features several ecological zones along the altitudinal gradient, that ranges from 150 meters up to 4,200 meters above sea level. It is this altitudinal gradient that gives this region one of the highest biodiversity rates in the world. In general, more than 15,000 species of plants are found in Manu, with over 250 species of trees found per hectare. The region is an excellent destination for birdwatchers, as it is home to more than 1,000 species of birds, a wealth of expression and superior to that of many countries. Therefore, it is acclaimed as having one of the largest abundances of terrestrial vertebrates ever found in rainforests. This trip starts in Cusco, and then we cross the Andes and drive down the Manu Road to Puerto Atalaya, and after that by boat along the Alto Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado. Along our 14 days of birding trip we will visit four Lodges, with one overnight in Cusco and another one in Puerto Maldonado.
